Like Clouds They Creep
Like clouds they creep across my day
those letters that say “NAY, NAY, NAY”
Recurring themes and numbers games
played by the well known without names.
Alas, ‘tis said: “the heart is fickle”
seeking but a contest tickle
etching text on barren space
delete! delete! but don’t erase
hard bloodied tip of scratching pen
striving to be one of ten.
Trudging through a muse-less reign
life’s blood entombed in pulse-less vein
The clouds will clear, the ink soft flow
a weathered raven loudly crow
beneath this blanket I have wept
believing wet wings are inept
yet they will dry and I will fly
sunshine replace the tears I cry
for I must write, it is my way
though clouds may creep across my day.
