Lights of the North
On the crispy wind-chilled night in a ship beyond the bay
Looking northward by wind-swept peaks a blue and green foray
We shivered in the northern wind watching toward the sky
When suddenly more light appeared coming from on high
In awe we sat and watched the show, the curtains of unrest
The beauty of the wavy green with red and then some gold
To live and watch the show for real was better than we’re told
In the distant mountains a shelf of snow broke loose to slide
Kicking up a glistening cloud high up into the icy wind to ride
The snowy cloud was filled with green fringed with red and white
From the aurora up above making for a double show tonight
Sun’s energy electrified and coursing through the dark
Left some lasting memories that surely made their mark
