Light My Fire By the Doors
Always thought the song
‘Light my fire’ was named
“Come on Baby, Light my Fire!”
A serious way to say fire
That almost no one else got right.
But the Doors did.
The Doors were so iconic in the 70’s,
That you could not turn on the radio without
hearing them.
The “kids” who thought this
hard rock up, were
in their twenty’s!
Jim Morrison and Ray Manzarek.
Two buddies from Florida.
They came in like a tornado,
Took us hostage, whipped us into a
frenzy, made hippies real.
The most rebellious of the rebellious.
A counter culture for those of us
who were watching our friends
dragged off to Viet Nam in a mandatory draft.
‘Light my fire’ was played everywhere,
and probably most especially there,
to remind our troops there was
still normalcy back home, waiting
when they returned.
