Lifting, But Forever Felt In Vain
To every tortured soul upon the surface of this earth
Happiness and prosperity are a perspective learnt from birth
Measured not by money or the sum of all your worth
But by life as it pulses through your veins
So walking all alone across this dark and dreary ball
A curse that’s set in motion by the feelings that you hold
To hold them in like poison, to wait for them to pass
Will undo you as quick as you were made
We walk upon this corkscrew path of life and love and loss
The dusty path before us moves with time until we give up
Never moving forward, but neither moving back
Stuck in life alone ‘till we depart
To ponder on the past, regret and wish what could have been done
To turn a page backwards and to start over anew
The hopes and dreams of others, to far away from you
Lifting, but forever felt in vain
