Life with Grandchildren

Though the house be untidy, let the grandchildren come.
They will give you the energy you need to get things done.
—Poet

every stinking time, let the stinkers’ feet
be found at your door, footprints adored
on sparkling floors - they shine
let bubbles decorate the air
kid’s smiles - they pop
every stinking time, answer their call
“Grandma…Grandma…”
they’ll exhaust your moniker
but enlarge your heart
they’re a gas, a godsend, a blast

Absolute truth, Kim! Our grandkids help us to understand what is really important and worthy of our investment of time in them. The dust isn't going anywhere but these precious babes grow up way too quickly. Love the humor! Congratulations on your win! Blessings of grace and peace and more time with your little people!

Dear Kim, Being a grandfather is so wonderful and how I could not agree with you any more! They scream, they pout, they laugh and they play. But the greatest joy is that they are ours who we love so dearly. Because of my long hours and getting up early in the morn (4am) and sometimes not stopping until 6pm I like to sleep in a little bit on Saturday. Well, this past Saturday, my wife brought two of my granddaughters up to the bedroom and they wanted to just lie there and snuggle with me. Such great joy!! - Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

A house is for joyful living. Though the parents could do a little more of the cleanup -- what the heck, a little mess if it is carefree signature of love and happiness, I pray God your family to continue to bless. Love your poem.

Oh, not saying house shouldn’t be kept, just that the lack of the moment’s perfection shouldn’t be a reason not to have them come over. Bless you and yours too!

I know they do. Grandma and grands get away with whatever they can until Grandpa shows up…lol, but he feeds them more sweets. So we are even.

They are all that and more... the little stinkers give us energy to play with them and when those little feet go home, we put ours up for a rest. lol Fun read, Linda.
