Life On the Prairie

Sifting through prairie dust, letting it fall towards more of the same. The great visions I had for this place now seem trite and foolish. I dismally walk away while the clouds above let go a tiny ocean.

So nice to read your verse this chilly Sunday afternoon- the image of the dust bowl & then mudslides is very clear.. Light & Love

I see this poem as almost giving up just as something great happens. Hope and dreams dash, and just when you think it's over, the rain comes right when you need it. Interesting. I like the imagery and how it makes you think. Like it!!

Your insight is accurate and thorough. Life is funny - right when you think you've reach the breaking point, something unexpected comes your way - and it's just what you needed.

Thanks Eileen. I feel like Sijo is a much more elaborated Haiku. Oh, don't you just love the smell of rain? Does it rain much in Beirut?

YES !! Love this. It is so full of emotion illustrated through the two elements of nature that reflect our own opposite mood spectrums-- the droughts and the quenching floods of life.

I can visualize a person walking through the prairie of his life, where dreams have sprouted and withered; but there is always the hope of renewal. // paul
