Life Is Just a Bowl Of

Cherries are the perfect snack When they are deep dark red. If you’ve a sweet-tooth craving, With these fruits it will be fed. They should be firm when purchased And, if possible, a’stem. Just rinse and fill a little bowl With quite a bunch of them. Remember to provide a cup For those annoying pits, Then pluck them from your mouth (Unless you’re one of those who spits). A handful is enough for me But vigilant remain ‘Cause if you aren’t careful, Man, that cherry juice does stain!

I look forward to Bing cherries every summer, also the white ones (with the rosy hue) even more delicious than the red ones. I like making cherries flambé with the red ones. They're priced right now so I'll be eating them to my heart's content. Love the last line of the 3rd stanza. / M

You can call me Red Fingers. You know, like Red Buttons or Red Skelton. Got your message loud and clear. Thanks, ilene. :) gw

One of my family's stories is about an Aunt finding me (as a toddler) at the top of a cherry tree being blown about in the midst of a gale, happily feeding my face with Bings, so you wouldn't want to invite me to your home when you have cherries! And everyone should be grateful for your advice to buy only those with stem attached! Aloha! Rico

Hello Ilene Bauer, If I had my way I would eat all the cherries in sight. Enjoyed your poem. Have a nice day my friend.

Love 'em! Ate some today, in fact. You're right about the unfortunate staining quality of cherries! Okay, quick cherry joke: I went to the store yesterday to buy a firecracker and a cherry... bought a boom, bought a Bing!
