Life Dream
I dream of life from years long ago
Of homes, parks, and streets I know
Of library walks, then book reading by trees
The boys who make fun and tease
Taffy colored dog companions
On walks in woods by mansions abandoned
With Grandparents pulling tomatoes from gardens
Sitting in porches as the evening skies darken
Then lightening and thunder cracking
Rain pouring in waves -- warm winds passing
Lights wavering flashlights gathered
Trees swinging leaves scattered
Then I wake and the house is quiet
The meds on the table the winds pliant
There are books and water nearby
A quiet night waiting for the pain to pass by
I rise to look out at the darken skies
In the starlight I am quiet no longer asking why
Waiting watching tired and trying to let go
But time goes by freely for life has its own flow.
