Life and Death
Twas a long time ago around fifty years or so
A war never forgotten when time passed so slow
A sniper in a tree shot at me and brought me to my knees,
As I lay on the ground with blood flowing all around.
I could not speak or yell for help as I lay dying alone,
With my jugular severed I had thoughts of home.
Then an angel flew me away as I saw a red cross displayed
With It’s wings twirling and it’s engines roaring I was in good care.
A tiny piece of led almost took my life away on that day,
A tube in my nose to eat with a bandage was no treat.
With thoughts of home slowing disappearing I fell asleep,
As I woke not one word I spoke for the bullet cut my throat.
Death or life I thought for many died in front of me,
I killed and I saw life disappear and thought!
Why me my Lord?
