Conceptual Image With Blood On It Resting On Tiles On The Floor ...

swish ... the button, pressed watchful, ever ... the blade pops like magic diving, dermal, tearing fascia to cry red tears ... petulant, like the growing puddle crimson, it collects the marbled squares like sandstorms collect the desert, creeping flowing ... deliberate rhythm in the drip 'so many raindrops' ... red rain, these the tempo matches my pulse what chaos?!? even death is ordered to the last musical and beautiful to be framed by such ruby rarity the coursing color inside us river of life, indeed ... running out of me. ~ 1st Place ~ in the "Strand Completely New 23, Any Form, Any Theme" Poetry Contest, Brian Strand, Judge & Sponsor.

Grand in scope and surgical in precision. Blood is life. This says so much. Congrats on your win, my friend ~ John

Painful to watch life flow out drop by crimson drop. Your poetry exists on many metaphoric levels. You do this so well, Gregory. Congratulations!

LOL - no worries, Buddy ... you and I are on a communication level I'm not on with others - I forget we're not neighbors or songwriting partners sometimes. That's a fine word - I was just being too detailed, haha!

Thanks so much, John! I'm more a cappuccino guy than tea, but I hear ya, Buddy! That said, I wouldn't call anything I've written gruesome - I do write some very dark stuff, and certainly suggestive, but never graphic - I think that sells the reader short, and I like to get their imaginations spinning, but never spell anything out. This gets close, but I was trying to delve the states-of-mind that brings someone to this point of intended mortality ... I've been there, myself, but that kind of pain is so compelling, and never exactly the same. Blessings, Brother! :-)
