Let the Walls Fall

Happiness inside the box of our lives secure in our own realities foolish are we for our walls are imaginary. Inside the box of our lives bricked in by our own constraints foolish are we for all walls are imaginary The box of our lives may the walls all fall like the famous walls of Jericho free are we of our lives let us be free

OK Deb many thanks for taking the time to answer and its my fault for missing the deadline....all your comments on the meter etc were dead accurate and I need to work on the subtleties of limericks all right...they are not my forte...best wishes Syd

I think we all build boxes or walls around us. That is why the expression think outside the box comes into play. It is the inner struggle within ourselves that create these walls. A well penned and thought out write this morning Deb. love Phyl

We all have to struggle to get off our "inner box", aren't we? Well penned and I like the way how you penned the lines of your poem! All the best, love, Gert

it is one of the subtlest poems. the structure of the poem goes down well with the language employed to bring out a lucid, concrete imagery

We do, each one of us, build our own walls...either out of insecurity, fear of rejection, or past mistakes and pain. Let us be free to knock those walls down brick by brick. Writing can be a tool ! :)

A good poetic way to describe claustrophobia.

I keep trying to punch my way out of "the box," Deb, but it's not easy. I like the upbeat message in this poem very much. We have to enjoy and appreciate our freedom. As for the limerick, I'm glad it met your meter requirements. Gave it a lot of thought and used your contest title to help establish the tempo. Love, Carolyn
