Let the Games Begin

Morning hoofs a trail of smoke,
Horsepower for modern folk,
With eyes slightly open for pay.
Watch others dive in, do backstroke.

Dear Kim, I loved your Rubai! You said it so well that technology is taking over more and more. There is no way to return to yesterday unless we go off grid. Thank you for your most enlightening poems!! - Blessings, My Friend, Daniel

The mention of backstroke sends chills up my spine. I joined a swim team, but definitely did not want to do the backstroke. Of course, I got it. Did terrible, but won by default. Your poem brings back memories.

A little chuckle…we often get what we are hoping not to get. Hugs ~ Kim

Olympics were meant for competitions. Unfortunately France disgraced us all with a parody of Jesus' Last Supper.

Watch that backstroke on TV. Quite the advantage: The 'morning smoke' doesn't make you choke, and you can speak of a 'stroke' in positive terms! Enjoy the Olympiada, Niada!

Cute one, Kim! Love the first part comparing cars to horses. (is this about the Olympics, like David thinks?)

I’m only catching olympics as I go into my hubby’s man cave…caught a couple gymnastics and a little swimming…so yes, inspired by a glimpse of olympics. Thanks, Andrea! Thought I’d try a rubai.

I’m guessing this one is you watching the Olympic swimming, whilst the world around you is off to work, but said in a very creative and may I say abstract manner Kim, A fantastic piece, cheers David

Various interpretations can be expressed, the title could refer to the Olympics, as the backstroke, I hope. The rest is over my head dear Kim. As usual, you shine mysteriously! xhugs

Let the games begin as in the Olympics but also a mundane work day. Thank you, Anaya!

Beautiful how you’ve written what you see , so many are exhausted and going oh autopilot, while work life can get so tiring too, a very creatively written poem that can be perceived in so many ways. Pleasure reading your work, hope your day goes well. Sending you light always poetic soul
