Let That Wish Be Yours, Not Mine...

As Christmas draws nearer, gentler than a whisper,
and the old year has six more days left;
and before the new one takes over...
I'm swamped with many wishes, searching
for the one which has more meaning;
and it's not only my holiday wish:
but its everyone's...if the intention is honest
and nothing insincere is seen in that laughter!

Let that wish be yours, not mine...
because life has granted me all my wishes!
And being much older, I can show you all:
how to glimpse into them with stunning eyes;
explaining to others what's the meaning of Happy Holidays!
And wouldn't they want the same for themselves in due time?

Let that wish be yours, not mine...
come much closer, there's no need to say it loud;
it's more than a wonderful secret to guard against time!
And it's deeper than a concealed promise,
because it hasn't been revealed once;
but disbelief is not a compromising word!

And finally Christmas has come and the wreaths of flaming red...like fire,
have many bells that chime as the merry children spread the good news
with a classic carol amid drifts of puffy snow that sticks to their warm attire;
and it's their wish, not mine: to close their little eyes and fantasize!
The merriment in their voices has more thrill than the verses I recite;
and they, recognizing the message I proclaim, gladly become my muse!
