Let Me Be Me
As I look at blue sky with cotton ball clouds passing through,
I think of many times I have wanted to float in that way
Instead, faced with conflict with people in dismay
Those who think they know what it is, I should do
Those who try to tell me, ways that I should be
People who haven’t experienced what I have, at all
Nor have they taken, any such kind of fall
But, they think they know best with what they see
Just let me be me, authentic, living by truth each day
Let me be free to pursue what I choose to
The outcome is not what is left over for you
I can and always have, with faith, found my way
