Let In the Light

In misery she sits and sighs. She counts her problems, stares, and cries. Each day’s a time for slogging through; each yesterday, a day to rue. She contemplates a world gone gray, and troubles keep her joy at bay. She keeps all doors and windows closed; her isolation’s self-imposed. Her friends and loved ones all have tried to visit her. Why does she hide? Recalling good days of the past, she mourns. Why did those days not last? Anxiety confounds her mind; she longs to leave the dark behind. When did existence get so bleak? She longs for peace. Where should she seek? Her love of life has grown so dim. Now once again she’ll turn to Him. Aware that God is always there, she’ll pray, “Please banish my despair!” Posted August 5, 2017 August 2, 2018, entered in Julia Ward's Favourite Poem from August 2017 Contest
