Let Grace Be Mine

Is God the master of my fate, where victory's to serve? Is 'Truth' that no act of 'my will,' my 'best' does not deserve His Grace, what Christ died for, His Gift? Then may His Spirit lift My soul, abyss no longer home, my breath buy more than sand My feet stand on, my faith, my rock, though evil rules the land. When struggle seems my daily bread and charity my loss, The world makes 'light' of hungry mouths, whose voice should be my boss? Should Love then dull all hungry eyes, or misery disguise That lost souls can find peace each night and not hear dark bells toll The pain of those the 'saved' forsake, if 'Love' would God extoll? Can Grace be mine who casts blind eyes or thinks of God with fear, God grant I never choose such life though death may scuttle near. If life is loss and God is dead, may I give Grace its head And praise instead what God should be! Is Love a drug like wine? I won't show 'finger' to the world and call it 'Valentine!'
