Lesson From a Dandelion

How easily the dandelions let go – the brush of a breeze sets the seeds free. They float away, leaving small scars on the green body where they once anchored. I want to learn not to cling to those who must leave when the time comes, to watch them drift towards growth, the scars a reminder how much I loved. From my new collection "The Eden of Perhaps"

'drift/towards growth' - this seems simple, but has deep undercurrents - this reminds me of making wishes before blowing the seeds away..

Hello Agnes Krampe, so nice to meet you. I find that the dandelion is an amazing flower. Some people use this flower for wine. some put the leaves in salads. A very useful flower. Enjoy your day my fiend. be safe.

Beautiful allegory of letting go, Agnes. Is this a new one for you? I really enjoyed hearing it in your voice and watching the video of the dandelion seeds. Congrats on your win in the contest!

Thank you, John. Actually no, I wrote it last year, but didn't share it on soup as to not jeopardize publishing in a magazine. Now that it's out in my book, I can :)
