Lesser Expectation
You saw me in a different way last week,
back then I could see that you perceived my persona
as interesting, wise and a little alluring.
Inwardly, I was preening
but of course I did not parade my conceit
for you to notice.
Now you look disappointed, now I seem
to have slipped off my perch.
I must consider your expectations
and ideals of the perfect man
as far too high, too unrealistic.
Still, your disillusion are revealing,
I guess my façade is not entirely convincing.
I can see you figured me out
and now I have discovered the
shallow depths of you also.
Shall we have sex again anyway?
We can wear those old masks,
or we could close our eyes and pretend.
