Leading a Tour
The students were a sassy bunch,
Inquisitive and loud.
They questioned and debated,
Some outstanding in the crowd.
I pointed out the artifacts,
Related and explained
And marveled at discussions
With the knowledge they obtained.
It doesn’t always flow this way,
So this was a delight,
A privilege to be leading them,
To watch those sparks ignite.
Perhaps they won’t remember me
But if my gut’s correct,
We all gained something rare – so nice
When old and young connect.
(I volunteer at a museum, leading school groups)
