My version and inspiration for this poem is Glenn Hughes's song, Lay My Body Down I have been wanderin this world For years On many open roads and in towns I have been seekin what is now long Broken For a past that is long Gone Did you love me - I wish you did Tell me the truth and not your lies I will always be lookin for you With each new dawn Until the day I rest in peace There is a deep awareness in me for each Friend For people I have built a trust But, as I look at the roadmap of my life I see my memories scattering like dust How will you think of me friend Oh, do you even know my heart But, I hope you will weep for me when I am Dead and buried I will always be lookin for you With each new dawn Until the day I rest in peace I will always be lookin for you With each new dawn Until the day I rest in peace Until the day I rest in peace Until the day I rest in peace When I am gone just close your eyes and I will be there To guide your feet on this journey friend I will be your shining star and you will feel My soul And I know you are strong and will be okay Did you love me - I wish you did Tell me the truth and not your lies I will always be lookin for you With each new dawn Until the day I rest in peace I will always be lookin for you With each new dawn Until the day I rest in peace Until they lay my body down Until they lay my body down Until the day I rest in peace . . .
