Late Evening Sunshine

Your gentle gestures ... soft velvet words made me open my hard shell You said you weren’t looking for love, but you stumbled upon it anyway and fell For so very long, I hid within my thoughts Too afraid to venture out and find someone who had a kindred spirit like mine Instead, I shut the door to my heart, closed the curtains and lowered the blind It was starting to get late, the light of hope was beginning to fade And in the late evening, at the falling of the last rays You passed by like a butterfly, and floated a hello my way Got swept away on a breeze of love, basking in your late evening sunshine You made me open the door to my heart, open the curtains and raise the blind I felt the warmth on my skin of a late evening brilliant lumenescence I felt it deep within, the heat of your late evening sunshine You said you weren’t looking for love, but in the fading light that’s what you did find
