Late Afternoon
As the late afternoon makes its way to the hill
Where the lowering sunlight begins to spill
Through the tall trees and across the snow
In the flash of a moment, all is settled to know
With comfort in the fulfillment of this day
Excitement is garnered to move on my way
I am always uplifted to watch the bright sky
Change colors in places I’d love to fly
Winter opens these distant views to see
Beyond every single bare standing tree
This quiet afternoon, brings peace all around
With nothing more needed to be found
