Last Words Exchanged

In his dying moments,
as my heart was dying too,
I said to him simply, "I Love You"
And he said "I Love You Too..."
Then I said one last thing,
And I pray that it was right,
I said, "It's okay to go...
go to that shining light..."
He died at that moment,
a skeptic he'd always been,
And said that death
was the final end...
At that time, I said to his
spirit, "Now you know how
wrong you were, dear
father, my love I'll always tend."
That was when the lights and
fan shut down,
And I knew for sure,
He wanted to acknowlege,
that his soul, it did endure.
