Last Thoughts

As he lays on the ground, his very life flows out on the cold street, You could hear the tires screeching from a light blue Saville leaving the crime scene. The drivers were rival gang members that up and left. Lil’ Rome is just lying there gasping for air, Thinking of his girlfriend, that’s five months pregnant. He wanted to be a good man and a good father. But he didn't know nothing but the street life. As he struggled to breathe, he wanted a a second chance at life, he wants to make wrongs right, rebuild the bridges he burned, go to church, go back to school, get a job, make an honest woman out of his girl, be the father that he never had….. As his thoughts ended, it was too late because he just breathed his last breath. *Inspired by the Final Thoughts Contest 04-25-21

Painfully true my friend--final moments bring out the best in us to reflect on things done and undone--well said, Alexis.

Such a cruel life. We make our own choices. Yet at the end of time there is a choice to emulate our famous Dismas.

This leaves me in agony; I can just picture it in stark black-and-white. Shades of 'West Side Story.' Powerful penning, Gershon
