driftwood on sea photo – Free Water Image on Unsplash

drifting ...
desultory and dour
tossed by a testament tide of
the ocean, mortal -
weary, waterlogged wood
shed in a storm by some mighty oak
intended of grander things
now bare and barkless
smooth, stiff, sullen atop the sea
all those dark, oily devils
drowned in the depths
beseeching me -
"swallow!"

Going deep into the dark- into dark and darker waters. Gasping for light, for illumination. Struggling to not perish into the hungry void. Reaching up- upward towards the truth, the higher levels in this too oft sordid mass of humanity. Finally touching shore- the welcome sand and safety... Your poem truly outstanding my friend! A fav- a gem ..
