The sky reveals the setting sun; Deepening shadows reveal no one. No footstep to echo in the halls, Where glows the ruby sunset walls. Baby blue bird's made a serenade, As he flew within his bower of jade; But night nears, in shades of blue, And anguish for the love we knew! The telegram lies upon the floor; Whose sad words hurt bosom's core. Scent of jasmine on a June breeze; Wind goes softly through the trees. The frenzy of those days now gone, And fireflies flit about the lawn, That recalls the blooms' glory days, And the mad, mad colors of yesterday!
