The Kiss of the Siren
Inspired by a painting The Kiss of the Siren by Gustav Wertheimer
'I seek to keep,
not save'
Circling thoughts from both minds
'You are mine'
As one mingles with the waves
One steadfast as a ship
The space in between a battle ground
For all that is wanted and all that is lost
No resistance
Yet out of reach
Gravity takes a side
As do the waves
No allies for the sailor
For he chooses life over death
Albeit only as a singular moment of promise
Til the price is paid
