As happy swing-set riders join the skating board sliders the more affluent children rode on the Merry-Go-Round. With scraped shins and scratched up knees we would climb the tallest trees and dirty our new sneakers playing on the muddy ground. We'd build castles in the sand with plastic buckets in hand, a league of superheroes that dreamed of becoming kings. Swapping marbles made of glass we'd form whistles out of grass, and drank gallons of Kool-Aid while doing summery things. Jeans covered in green grass stains we'd walk the tracks between trains, and often, we'd go fishing in the large pond in the park. We'd get bronzed from the sun running around having fun and playing hide-and-go-seek till it started to get dark. (Rhyme) 8/5/2018

I like your added stanzas, Emile...so typical. Kids and Kool-Aid, marbles and sand castles. Perfect! And, congrats on your high placement in the contest.

Hi Emile I think you've italicized 2 verses and I believe that only one verse is allowed so I wouldn't wish this to disqualify you. Best wishes Wendy

Thanks Wendy, but in order to follow the rhyme scheme in the original poem it requires two verses...if I'm disqualified...so be it, Emile.
