Keeping a Social Distance
KEEPING A SOCIAL DISTANCE
With my barge pole in hand, I’m setting off to the shops
Hoping that the deliverymen have made their food drops
No worries here that anyone will get to me much to close
With my barge pole in my hand I make a formidable force
The shop’s security man isn’t arguing he as lets me pass
Afraid to get into any fracas with some daft cow of a lass
Aisle 1, chilies, onions, ginger, and garlic, all go in my bag
Anything else that is healthy, no time here for a chin wag
Aisle 2, seems there is a crowd gathering around the tins
Heading in, with my barge pole, secured me of a few wins
Shoppers shocked at my tactics, wished they had one to
It also works spacing out others, waiting at the till queue
Live and learn; I said; this here barge pole is here to stay
As looking into my full basket, I did well I have got to say
“Moral in my madness” . . .
