Just Prior To Lockdown

Evening: empty streets and empty hearts, all seems silent, eerily still, each house a silhouette, a chink of light the only sign of life, curtains pulled tightly shut, as if to keep out the virus, keep out the world. And inside each house,  people are going stir crazy, hoping and praying,  arguing and weeping,  and worrying. I reach my house, see its chink of light at the window, and I, too, shall close the door on the world,  friends and strangers alike.  for Team Soup's Coronavirus contest

Reads like a good contender. We all are having problems with this situation. I wonder how long it will last. Will the virus outlast us? Sara..Over here I saw yesterday they are doing some more testing on some vaccines plus doing some treatments with blood plasma from people who have been exposed and it is looking promising. Sara

You did an amazing job here, Jack. I hear domestic violence is on the rise. I feared this would happen. Many people, especially men, have no patience with their kids, etc. And those with no money must be SO stressed. This is a very good entry to the contest. Hope you are well. I think I did not hear from you lately, did I?

Hi Jack a very emotional, touching poem , painting a true picture of how a good third of the world are living - seems surreal - can't even see our boys, everyone under lockdown - keep safe my friend. Blessings Jennifer

oh Jack I've been so worried about you and mum, I mailed but heard nothing so glad you are both ok. this is one of the most moving poems I've read on the subject. It is difficult being under lock down but we have to do it to remain virus free. We are on lock down and now have got over 60 cases here, sadly one death today has cast a huge shadow over the Island:-( stay safe and well my friend and love to mum - cant see mine she is in lock down longer than we have been:-( hugs jan xx

That ending line 'close the door on the world' - so poignant, this is so moving, Jack.
