Just One Lie

When you hear the ocean, I wonder if you will think of me. Thoughts bring emotion to the surface to flow free. Waves seek to touch the sand, as tides go out, and come in. You never could understand, who I was, my spirit within. The story you rehearsed and told, minus the truth, you left out. Trust was gone, nothing left to hold. it all disappeared, into doubt. The wind sweeps down the beach, lifting swirling clouds of sand. Touching everything within reach, always seeking a place to land. Love lost under the summer sky. A lifetime spent, comes to an end. It all changed with just one lie, for that, I refused to bend.
