vast is my world much larger is my heart
thanks to your sister, your brother, and you
I feel lifted, I am ready to start
what I hope and pray lasts an hour or two
you called this morning to insist I rise
my lovely child the middle one of three
sleep has gone, some lingering in my eyes
the care in your voice so soothing to me
yes there are tasks you and I must perform
the years and challenges of life abound
still I reflect on the day you were born
you were welcome then, you are welcome now
promise this ritual will never end
a daughter, a father the best of friends
