Joyful
You gave me words to decipher
I let them wrap around my mind
happiness
joyfulness
what are their opposites?
I think
trying to grasp beyond the obvious
why do we strive for happiness?
is it a state of being?
for me I wish to be joyful
to be in a state of thankful
joy exists
beyond the borders of happy
joyfulness is a well spring
connecting us to the infinite
its power is beyond circumstance
worldly possessions
or a good day
it can still be felt when we are cradled in sadness
Joyfulness allows our spirit to open
commune
celebrate
we see beyond our limitations
The opposite is fear
fear restricts
encloses us
robs us of our Joyfulness
suspends us within the darkness
we seek happy
slivers of pleasure
experiences
yet fear whispers
"This is temporary
fleeting
you don't deserve it
hold onto it while you can
it will be gone soon"
yes moods change
life happens
still we can reach beyond the obvious
search for joyfulness
breathe in God's spirit
as joyfulness rises
fear will flee
unable to survive
within the light
and yes
yes you
me
we can be
the ones
who spread
express
live
and celebrate
our
joyfullness
This poem was inspired by my sweetie
who is reading a book called "The Gift of Imperfection"
written by: Brene Brown.
Happy Valentines Day.
