Joyce began writing poetry in 1995 to ease her eternal grief,
the hole in her heart is great, death took her son like a thief.
Joyce has lived a long time, one hundred years to be exact,
she worked long after 65 and had time to Europe travel;
I know all this 'cause I read her biography, so it is a fact.
she loves to garden and in her eyes there is a sweet devil.
Her poems are vast and beautiful, she is not afraid of form,
acrostic, verse, haiku, limerick, rhyme, tanka, and much more;
her poetic words just come tumbling like a wild storm,
Joyce is not afraid to take her MUSE through any door.
Joyce you are an inspiration, and
on your 100th birthday I wish you the best;
you have traveled a long and beautiful road.
Could you be MY grandmother please?
Everything about you is a treasure to hold.
Unseen, A Haiku
by Joyce Johnson
frozen beauty hides
in the untrodden places-
known only to God
