What a vast amazing place we live in! As a species, modern humans appeared on Earth about 300,000 years ago. Our dexterity and high-level brain capability enabled us to thrive and develop our "modern" society.

Evolution previously led to different life forms on this planet. This variation could also apply to other planets with very different results. However, our self awareness and ego create a tendency for us to define the entire universe with human-like characteristics--anthropomorphism.

When life evolved into complex organisms which reproduce the way we do, the specialization meant we must age and die. I personally honor this destiny by welcoming death without an afterlife.

While we cannot exist forever as individuals, we can pass some DNA to the next generation. However, the desire for eternal life makes many of us wish for something more and creates a business opportunity.

Very clever and the fourth line is a knock out line. At times I think that if dogs, for example, can't conceive that we can think, then why can't we be the 'dogs' of whatever/whomever the next step up could be?

I am on the same page. We are but the tiniest of tiny specks in the universe. We used to think the Earth was the center of the universe, but we know that is not the case. It's a humbling thought and difficult for many to accept since they still feel that there is something separate from nature about Homo sapiens. Thanks for the comment!
