John Denver

With the stage name “Denver,” beloved poet John to country, folk and beautiful soft rock was drawn. “Take Me Home Country Road” made him a star. What lovely songs for nature he strummed on his guitar! With the stage name “Denver,” beloved poet John became a 70’s phenomenon. To tunes like “Grandma’s Feather Bed” and “Annie’s Song” his fans would listen and sing along. With the stage name “Denver,” beloved poet John crashed his plane one day, and in an instant he was gone. His art lives on even though no longer can he roam. How apt his autobiography’s name: Take Me Home. Dec. 29, 2020 For Brian Strand's the 'YOU SELECT AGAIN' Poetry Contest

A fantastic tribute to John Denver Andrea, loved his songs - “Annie’s Song” is my favourite. His lyrics were amazing, so sad he tragically died so young. Best wishes ~ Belle

John Denver was a favorite of mine too, Andrea. I had all his records. All his songs were pure poetry. "Annie's Song" always tugged at my heart strings, but I most loved the songs he wrote about "Calypso" and its famous captain. A fave for me, Hon. Wonderful!! Love, Carolyn

How apt his autobiography, indeed. I am a huge John Denver fan; often listen to his music while trying to compose poems. Thanks for this tribute to him, Andrea. We sure lost a lot of music there. A true tragedy, his death. Peace and Hope, Gershon

Andrea, Lovely rhythm in this bluesy poem's song. John's wasn't too bad either. Bill has it right If you get a little famous stay away from small chartered flights. Adding to Bill's insightful comment and list: Carole Lombard (1908–1942) & Audie Murphy (1925–1971). -Richard

Andrea, wonderful how you told a story in clerihew. I love the singing of John Denver, so tragic that he died and what a tragedy, but yes, we have his music to always remember him, well done _Constance
