John Chapters 16-17 Q and A and Commentary part two
Q: Why will the Comforter convict the world in regard to righteousness and
judgement? John 16: 11.
A: He will convict the world in regard to righteousness and judgement because:
the prince of this world [aka Satan] now stands condemned. [Cause of all
his crimes he has committed past, present and future.] John 16:11
Q: Why doesn't Jesus tell them every thing? And why will the Comforter be telling
them instead? John 16: 12
A: I have much more to say to you more than you can now bear, but when, the
Spirit of truth comes, He will not speak on his own; he will only speak what
he hears, and will tell you what is to come. John 16:12-13.
Q: How will he [the Spirit of truth] bring glory to me? [Jesus] John 16:14
A: [He will bring glory to me] by taking what is mine and making it known to
you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit
will take from what is mine and making what is known to you.
John 16: 14-15.
In a little while you will see me no more, and than after a little while you
will see me. John 16:16. [ In some of the succeeding verses, Jesus does
answer his disciples questions based on the revelations of truth that he
just revealed to both them and also to us as well.]
The Disciples Grief Will Turn to Joy [beginning with John 16:17.]
Q: Why did some of his disciples said to one another, "What does he mean
by saying, 'In a little while you will see me no more, and than after a
little while you will see me?" and Because I am going to the Father.
They kept asking. John 16: 17-18.
A: Because they were totally dumb founded and didn't understand what he
was just trying to tell them. John 16:17-18
Q: But why did they kept on asking, "What does he mean by a little while?
John 16:18
A: "Because we don't understand what he is saying." John 16:18.
A: Jesus saw that they wanted to ask him about this, so he said to them,"
Are you asking one another what I meant when I said, 'In a little while
you will see me no more and than after a little while and you will see
me?" John 16:19.
Q: Why was it necessary for Jesus to tell them the truth? John 16:19.
A: I tell you the truth, you will weep and mourn while the world rejoices.
You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy. John 19:20 [Amen Amen]
