'jealous of Me'

The tracks of my long forgotten tears
Still remain,
I wish they wouldn't be so evident
Especially today
When I wanted a fresh start
Where the memories of you
Were not so prominent

I didn’t choose this path
My feet led me here
To the cenotaph of a love that was
Trinkets and photos of a happier time
Makes me jealous
I envy that lady in the photo with you
You look so content
So in love
It makes me jealous
Of me
And the way we use to be

*Inspired by the song Jealous by Labrinth”

Is the song about someone jealous of the "old you" in a picture. What a clever idea it is!! Love it!

Hi Andrea, no the song is about lost love or like someone else interpreted it to someone passing away and being happy on the other side... I just wrote mine in that context. *hope that makes sense* :) I actually posted a link to the song by Labrinth on my Facebook timeline

I've now listened to that song, and I can see the inspiration behind this poem. Wonderfully penned : )

Your feelings come through strong and straight from the heart. You have captured the feelings of loneliness and depression and have displayed them for our contemplation. Emile. #7

Losing love leaves deep ruts from tears, but they eventually fill in from smiling. Well written, Wilma.
