Jagged Shards
You snuck out late in the night
after all was said and done.
And my heart instantly broke:
I never thought that you'd run.
You, silently slipped away,
while sleep, veiled my trusting eyes.
And my fears became real:
for you left with no goodbyes.
Love was a fantasy dream:
a mirage, time tore apart.
And, as the fragments shattered,
jagged shards: impaled my heart.
I'm teetering on the edge
that divides sane from insane.
And my heart's devastated:
I cannot conceal my pain.
Acid tears dissolve color:
leaving only shades of grey.
Yet, I won't give up on Hope:
I'll find my soulmate someday.
