Throwing money in the air and see who will catch it. Is it the artist or the common man? After all, like you say, it’s only monopoly money.

Whee! It's a Happy Fizzies Party! Better than a money tree in the Backyard...

Unfortunately, it is NOT about Americans but all about political parties! As the late Senator Inouye once said, "For every dollar Congress approves for Native American programmes, 97-cents is consumed by the BIA in the administration of those funds!" You know the Trump fortune came from bilking government, yet nothing is being done to require integrity in government, Congress, or the JD!

The BIA allegedly collected $10-billion in royalties for mining and fossil fuel operations on Indian Reservations, but not one cent found its way to a tribe; it all disappeared in the BIA accounting system and was written off by Obama because it would be "too expensive" to audit! So you are quite right, integrity and government do not go hand-in-hand!

Integrity in Government: Hmm. Why don't we let Bernie Sanders show us how that worked and works so well in Russia?! Or maybe Ilhan Omer can show us a model of honesty in the Sudan. Or perhaps Rashida Tlieb can explain how and why 95 cents of every dollar we send to the Palestinians goes right into Mr. Abbas' greedy pockets... Or Bruce Rauner and J.B. Pritzker can justify why each blew over $50 million of their own fortunes on the State of Illinois' Governship; they probably could have solved 1/2 of the state's problems instead with their money, instead of bloviating... Government and Integrity don't even belong in the same paragraph, I guess. What a country! :) gw

Greed knows no bounds in Washington. They take our money, and treat it like Monopoly Money. Whenever they need to buy more, they mortgage the country deeper and deeper into debt. And the Republicans have become almost as bad as the Democrats on that score. :) gw

Clever retort!

Frankly, I don't care what it costs, but I WANT AN INFRASTRUCTURE PROGRAM. We need to get Americans back to work and refurbishing our infrastructure. I'm tired of bouncing along on our interstates and fearing crossing our bridges!!! They need to stop the squabbling and "git 'er done!" I know you didn't ask, but that's how I feel anyway.

Well, I will concede that they both have their hands in the "obstructionist" pot! Why? That's my central question. Why can't they simply work together to get this agenda passed?

OK. I hear you... I find Manchin reasonable, however. Biden promised him and 9 Republican Senators that he'd support and pass the first $1.2 trillion (actual) infrastructure bill -- and then Biden immediately reneged, bowing to Pelosi, who bowed to Bernie Sanders, who puffed out his chest and bellowed: the $3.5 trillion bill (minimum) would have to get passed first or both deals are off! By the way, that's still Bernie's stance (i.e., $3.5 trillion bill first). So, I feel that Mr. Sanders is the obstructionist here, not Mr. Manchin. ~ Just sayin'

Nope, gw, I wasn't upset by or at your poem. I can't tell what's in either bill. It changes every day. I doubt the Senators do either. The Trump administration ran up an incredible debt and did nothing to help...giving money away. I know because I received a check I didn't need!!!! Here's real opportunity to do something that needs to be done and they're squabbling like cats. Gershon, I don't have any disagreement with your way of thinking. I'm just struggling with Joe Manchin. He's running ads like crazy here in West Virginia telling all that he's done, and it's all horse manure. He has done little but obstruct. I want our representatives and senators to get their acts together and get something beneficial done for the American people. This is actually what I'm upset about. I hope this explains my position. My friend says Manchin is doing the right thing. I say he's obstructionist; he's saying do it my way or no way. And, I'm sick of that attitude in Congress, period.

Seems like you're really upset about my poem, as well as the tough battle being waged in Washington over the two Biden bills... Actually I'm upset too, because the second of the two bills, the $3.5 trillion bill, has zero to do with physical infrastructure. Zero. Because the 1st bill ($1.2 trillion) is about 60% devoted to physical infrastructure. The second bill, all social programs, would virtually wed lower-income Americans to government assistance their entire lives, devaluing the dignity of work pretty much altogether for them. And that, my friend, is a horrible outcome for Americans and humanity in general. ~ Just sayin' ~ gw

Thanks, Tom. After all, as one Senator from Illinois used to say: 'A billion here, a billion there -- pretty soon you're talking real money.' (Insert 'trillion' for 21st century Senators). ~ Scrooge
