Its Heartbeat Stilled
I'm in love; everything's going my way
The sun is shining; it's a beautiful day
The forest's a-twitter, birds chirping with glee
All of Nature's beaming rainbows at me
The wind breathes softly
Leaves flutter in the breeze
Gentle waves roll 'cross meadows
Deep-blue the seas: The world's at ease...
Alas and alack! In the air's felt a chill
Spring's rose has wilted; its heartbeat stilled
Heaven's founts have opened; a deluge's come down
Summer's retreated, vanquished and drowned
My passion ascendant, once mirrored skies above
~ Its flames now extinguished, mere embers of Love
