It's Already Too Late

If you have to apologize, it's already too late
What you've done is unfixable; don't think you're so great

If you feel mere words can mend a broken heart
Then you've learned nothing, you fool, from its tearing apart

if you've fired a person and want to make amends
Find him a new job; that's the right message to send

If you've screamed at your kid, reduced him to tears
It'll take years to overcome what you've taught him to fear

Whatever you've ruined, be it a life or a love
Can only be mended by Mercy from Above

Gershon, 'If you have to apologize, it's already too late What you've done is unfixable; don't think you're so great'. There's a truth to these words my conscience made to face. All too often thrown the babe out with the bathwater. Learning forgiveness, a return to grace, consumes a lifetime. -Richard

OK. One's sorry. Why wasn't Mata Hari?... Richard, I just love the way you rhyme your comments... Keep those 'cards and letters' comin,' my friend. Thanks, gw

True! Only God can forgive -- and somethings, it's a painful wait. Well said, Gershon.

Right... for Him for Whom 1,000 years is but a blink of an eye... Who are we to comprehend His Ways? Blessings, Gershon

I like the message in your verse Gershon, once it's gone you can't get it back. Not only does it make the recipient feel bad but also the sender. Congratulations too on your win. Tom.

Proverbs brings the exact same idea: M'uvas v'lo yis'kon (Hebrew), meaning: 'You ruined it, and it can never be fixed.' Thank you for your insight and your support, Tom. ~ Gershon

Gershon, this is wonderful and so well written, I agree once words are spilled there is no getting them back, no matter how many times sorry is said ~

I am truly thrilled that you like the message in this one. Clearly, I couldn't agree with you more... My wife has always maintained this, and I've really come to see it as I've aged---oops, gotten younger (at heart). Thank you so much, and best wishes, Gershon
