Notes About The Poem

Seven Ten Poetry Contest. Sponsored by Emile J Pinet. 09/04/23

It's a Wonderful World

I don't have my camera, so I intend to just paint a picture of the most glorious scene, which is appearing in front of my eyes. My canvas - a dog-eared notebook and pen. Twilight’s beginning to fall, I observe the changing sky as the sun dips below the horizon. Rich swirls of marmalade and tangerine, that could have been applied by Monet’s brush. I am mesmerised by a murmeration of starlings; their aerial acrobatics enthrall. It’s a stunning sight, and I can hear loud rustling of frantic flapping wings in flight. Thousands of birds, all searching for space to settle tonight. The flock moves about like graceful dancers, twirling and swirling in darkening skies, until they swoop as one, to rest tired wings. Mother Nature at her best, yes, it’s a wonderful world.

Your imagery is divine. I sit on my back porch and watch the sky fill with color every evening. Right now, it is hummingbirds that flit about in search of another taste of nectar.

aww thanks Jerry, how i would love to see hummingbirds in real life. I usually write humour, some would advocate I still just write poop poetry, but this one took a lot of time to craft and I am thrilled with all the comments. hugs Jan xx

Hi, Jan! Oh, I agree! Years ago downtown every late aft, we could see the same thing here. Itoo had to write abt it & make a pen & ink draw of it. An exhilarating sight, perhaps cause we can see Nature in motion making Beauty & urban at that! We had sparrows do that over our yard every dusk. Unforgettable. Your poem is very lovely, evocative, a flowing pic like the birds U painted here.

Thanks Jan ,.....and "Yes"....I did take notice the piece you had compiled here was not of the same caliber or sophistication of your previous works, lacking the the aroma and flavor of your pervious pieces, but I always endeavor to remain flexible in this ever evolving world........in other words...No Poop.... well, it's OK
