Notes About The Poem

It's a Wonderful World
I don't have my camera,
so I intend to just paint
a picture of the most glorious scene,
which is appearing in front of my eyes.
My canvas - a dog-eared notebook and pen.
Twilight’s beginning to fall,
I observe the changing sky
as the sun dips below the horizon.
Rich swirls of marmalade and tangerine,
that could have been applied by Monet’s brush.
I am mesmerised by a
murmeration of starlings;
their aerial acrobatics enthrall.
It’s a stunning sight, and I can hear loud
rustling of frantic flapping wings in flight.
Thousands of birds, all searching
for space to settle tonight.
The flock moves about like graceful dancers,
twirling and swirling in darkening skies,
until they swoop as one, to rest tired wings.
Mother Nature at her best,
yes, it’s a wonderful world.
