It Took Me Awhile To Love Myself Again

It took me awhile to love myself again

Written By Dean Masciarelli

Tuesday, March 30, 2010

It took me awhile to love myself again

So that other people
could love me in return

And now that I have gotten
through
the most difficult moments

I have had enough time
to reevaluate everything

And I have done
some fine tuning

And a few adjustments
here and there

And the whole process has
made me a better person

Because I can love
myself just as I am

But I have also learned how to accept
the things that I cannot possibly change

By allowing myself to look forward

So that I can focus on those things
that can have a positive outcome

Because it will make a significant
difference in this life of mine

By leaving my past behind
and not looking back again

Because I have had plenty of time
and the opportunity and the freedom

To discover who I am all over again

So that my life can ultimately be more
fulfilling and truly rewarding in the long run

It is not easy to leave the past behind, it has a way of creeping back when you least expect it. Your wonderful poem is so inspiring, words to live by. I want to thank you so much for your sweet and amazing comments on my poetry. You really made me feel fantastic, and you are right, I am a woman, with red, spike heels, and long raven hair... love Constance
