It Made No Sense At All
It Made No Sense at All
She lived out on the highlands green
At the edge of the wide, wide bay;
She played all year at Halloween,
They came from miles away.
And what they said when they came back
Made no sense at all;
Some said they’d been attacked,
While others claimed, “Enthralled.”
“And why, or what, my husband dear
Does she do to all you guys?”
“I can’t say how, but have no fear,
For sex is not the prize.”
Another wife yells “Tell me true!
Have you been cheating on me?”
“Not so, my love, but something new,
I know the law of three.”
No one ever saw her twice
They could not find her name;
But all would give the sacrifice
To be with the insane.
The women living there were sore
That all men were so reckless
To swim out there from shore to shore,
But none could quite confess
To know just what it was she slid
Inside their minds so loud;
Not all were glad at what she did,
But now they weren’t so proud.
The will of the witch on the highlands green
Flew on the wide, wide bay:
She played all year the Elven Queen:
They came from worlds away.
