Notes About The Poem

Island Blues

Island Blues

My teal eyes rise to southern skies
     in soft shades of azure,
A reflection of our aqua serene seas
     that sweep the shore.
Summer shallows for novice surfers
     in nautical navy shorts swim
From sunrise to sunset when indigo
     heavens enchant our eyes with
Dancing diamond stars that mesmerize.

Luna, wrapped in her cobalt robes amid
     shrouded clouds, hides.
Midnight lends to darkest sapphire shades in
     romantic bejeweled atmosphere
Before gentian skies fade in the majesty
     of dawn’s golden light.

And I hope you have a win with this imaginative poem using blue synonyms. Now that all my excitement is over, perhaps I can get back to Soup. I did get your card and haven't had a chance to answer or even count all of the cards I got. People were wonderful to me. I had three big parties. The big one that my family gave for me and we had 250 guests or maybe more if they didn't register. The church gave me one and I had another at Garden Club just this last Thursday. Love , Joyce

wow, Connie, you excelled with this challenge!!! Good on YOU. It seems like some of July challenge words are in here but maybe not. I'll have to see if I can fit them into one of the challenges here at Soup, so I can kill two birds with one stone. (My mouth feels ok right now, compared to usual at this time of day!)

When Kona winds blow in from the south we get the volcanic smog which we call VOG. Fortunately most of the time we have the beloved trade winds coming from the northeast. Thank you Nette. : )
