Notes About The Poem

Thank-you JC for inviting me to write . . . it has been a while. It felt good to work with you again.

Is This Not You That I Love: a Collab With Jc

She: (doubtful and fearful)
You love me only when you see a smile
When dancing in the breeze young and carefree
It's only then you find what is worthwhile
But you don't love what's there, the real me

He: (reassuring)
As the first morning rays shoot skyward
Your smile breaks above the horizon of my heart
Your face radiates joy, dark eyes prancing with delight
Your wind song expanding the sails of my soul
Is this not you that I love?

She: (wanting to believe)
You love me when I make you feel alright
When you are sad and need a warm embrace
You need me when you’re lonely in the night
And then you ask to have my saving grace

He: (reconfirming)
Your love is my refuge, a sanctuary of goodness
You drive away my fears, you dry my tears
Gently I tend your garden singing lightly into the night
Tongue tasting sweet love flavors upon my lips
Is this not you that I love?

She: (confident and assured)
I am the one that you have made me be
A fragile woman yet a woman strong
The faith you have in me has set me free
To be secure in love where I belong
That's why it's you that I love

Often we have to learn who we really are from someone else. And, those are the people that truly love us... This is a beautiful poem and so expressive. Well done to you both!

Thank-you Olive, your comments brings deep joy to my heart. As you know in a love relationship it takes a lot of patience, forgiveness, and reassurances to make it work well. Eileen is a gracious writer and takes careful and tender care of her collaborators. Al the best.

Fun to work with you, my dear. I forgot a THE in one of my lines. Second stanza....before night...third line. :) Please correct it. Also, if those two stick figures at the end are you and me...shouldn't you give me more...padding? ;) Add some parenthesis...and fill me out, would'ya. I feel naked! ;)

This feels like a conversation between the lovers in your previous collab with Eileen, after they were reunited, David. Beautiful. One which continues to affirm the beloved as they continue their life travel. A 7. Hugs! :) Kim

Thanks Kim, this was a fast fun write. JC sent me the first two stanzas . . . an email or two and we were done! From JC words, I thought how important it is to remind each other how much you love them. We sometimes can take our relationships for granted -- "can't you read my mind? or Don't you know how I feel?" Unless we speak it and show it . . . the other my always doubt. Thank-you for your visit and comment -- it is precious to me. Much love and light!
