Is the World Ill-Fated
In restless sleep my eyes fluttered
Candle flames sputtered...
I was lost in a dream
Enchanted night with myriads of stars
but the moon was surrounded by bars
Tears fell from each moonbeam
I shook my head, moaning in disbelief
It was a foreshadowing of grief
Celestial bodies lost their gleam
Lambent glitter was fading in the sky
I had no idea as to the reason why
It was very odd and a bit extreme
I cried to think the heaven's were crumbling
My fear evoked, they started tumbling
In the darkness, so I let out a scream
The sun glinted through my window shade
My forshadowed thought had me afraid
But things are not always as they seem
Then, sunlight waned from my window sill
Shadows filled the room. I shivered with a chill
as if ice water flowed in my bloodstream
Was I still dreaming or had I gone insane?
Something amiss was befuddling my brain
But who could manipulate such a scheme?
My windows were covered with etchings of frost
Is the world ill-fated to be star-crossed?
I am lost in a world I cannot redeem
I was not resigned to this; not one darn bit!
I won't accept, "It is was it is," or is it
Just a nightmare from too much ice cream?
