- Is The Soup Expired On The Date? -

How to deepen the soup flavor
I feel as something is missing, frustrating
In the last year, tastes have changed
The power forms the basis of the soup itself
Maybe onions or mushrooms aren't your favourites
Sprinkle a little salt and pepper
taste or smell can actually catch the soup's interest
As pirouettes upward in the uvula
The best thing regarding the soup
is that it consists of different ingredients
Which gives a balanced blend of delicious taste to the mouth

Good write Ann Lise If its out of date then just bin it, a bit of salt and pepper won't do any good. The taste has gone. Best wishes kevin

Maybe the pot needs a little stirring and some ingredients need to be added. Time can take away a little of the spicy favour. Hope all is well your way. Just got over a 3 weeks of being sick. love phyl

May your pen find solace in the act of creation. Exquisitely crafted verse, Anne-Lise. Your poem transforms the humble essence of soup into a tapestry woven with threads of sensation, nostalgia, and fascination, a dance of playfulness and contemplation.

Thank you for sharing this, Anne! I love how your poem turns something as simple as soup into a reflection on taste, memory and curiosity, both playful and thoughtful.

I rather love onions mushrooms all peppers & most spices including fennel! Ha the mix is more interesting,. I find it a bit more private. I joined for the contests which do not take away from poems not for contests & are inspirational. Love your soupy metaphors Lise! Bon appetite~

Anne, hello. I read your subliminal message. And agree that the soup has lost its taste. I say replace the kitchen. Thank you. Hugs. The blossoms miss you. (((<> <>)))

i agree with you, anne-lise, that something is definitely missing as far as the soup goes, but i'm not sure if "a little salt and pepper" will be enough to improve it to its former glory. i admire your optimism, though!

Dear Anne-Lise, witty, wistful, and full of flavor. You stirred the metaphor pot with just the right blend of spice and reflection, a gentle nudge toward community and renewal. Thanks for seasoning the conversation with insight and care. Autumn Blessings, Dear Anne-Lise, Daniel

Contests have ruined the Soup. A poet needs to be inspired by the moment of inspiration. By individual, internal depths. To calculate, to be overly proper and directed, programed for form and topic, is to be boring and distastefully commercial. Blah! Blah! Blah! Predictable same old same old.

- You're right, Joe - Poems that aren't for contests don't get noticed... or overlooked... - But I like writing for contests too... at least some of them :) - Thank you very much for your comment :) - hugs

Nice poem. Truthful and reminding of expirations on canned soups.
