Is It Poetic?
So just go ahead and remove yourselves from my past;
Looking back I can see now it was all just examples anyway;
Even back then I suspected it was all going to be futile;
And oh yes I regret the price someone might have to pay;
For trivializing the past in order to justify their present life.
So if people chose to cloak themselves with colors of success
I suppose that’s their choice now isn’t it.
I have not the authority to judge yet somehow;
Criticism seems to spotlight back at me;
As if it is continually passing judgments.
Some people don’t have a lot of tangible possessions;;
Valuables kept stored-hidden and even sometimes displayed but;
I have had the privilege of being loved by some beautiful women;
I’ve seen a lot of envy coming from people who see me walking by.
So perhaps “love” might be the force that drives after all.
Wait a minute someone help me here;
There are no higher powers only ourselves to answer to right?
First off anyone who tells me the beast still doesn’t live within us
Must be playing make believe that we are the supreme beings.
So tell me really then; what is this word love about anyway?
I don’t know about any of it nor do I draw any definitive conclusions
But I know how foolish it could be if people who thought like that;
Should turn out to be wrong and wind up staring it in the face.
Me I keep all options open because I don’t know what’s going on
And anyone who thinks they do ought to learn to sing the blues.
